Day at La Cruz

Day at La Cruz

Nestled along the stunning Riviera Nayarit, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle offers a charming blend of traditional Mexican culture and modern amenities. Spending a day in this picturesque fishing village is a delightful experience filled with vibrant colors, sounds, and flavors. The restaurants and especially small taco places are very nice and definitely wait to be explored!

We stayed in La Cruz marina for 2 nights at the end of December. They only had a 91′ dock available and they charge for the length of the boat or the dock, whichever is larger – so for a day we felt like we have a 91′ boat!

The marina is lively, and a local crusier radio net on Ch 22 at 8:30am provides a lot of information about what is going on.

For example, we heard on the net about “Trash boat regatta” which is a fun boat building and racing event for kids in the Marina. All are winners and price is Ice Cream, of course…

We strolled around for nearby cafe and bakeries …

… and find murals evrywhere!

And enjoyed first tamarind Ice Cream!

Evening: Sunset and Seafood

As the day was winding down, we headed to one of the beachfront restaurants to enjoy fresh seafood while watching the sunset. La Peska is a local favorite known for its ceviche and grilled fish. The laid-back ambiance and stunning ocean views create an unforgettable dining experience.

The next day we were lucky to be led on a ‘taco tour of La Cruz’ by our friend Alexa (MV Noeta), she showed us very tasty places tucked away in the village. They only open after 5pm so we were not even noticing them while walking the streets earlier in the day! And the tacos were so very tasty!
